Loretta Tryon’s interest in abstract painting started while she was in grade school, mainly using watercolors experimenting with color and form. While pursuing jewelry and metalwork in college she also studied ceramics, printmaking and dance. She enjoys working in charcoal, acrylic, oil and for the past eight years it’s been mainly encaustics. Loretta Tryon earned a BFA in metalsmithing and abstract drawing from Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. She is a member of the Lehigh Valley Art Alliance, a juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, SNAG and the PA Society of Goldsmiths.

Currently working from her independent studio in Coopersburg, PA, her studio is a melding of metal, wax and paint. Using shellforming and anticlastic raising, Loretta Tryon combines graceful curves, hammered textures and patinas in her work. Hand engraved designs on the metal are unique details she uses when finishing jewelry and sculptures. Her work has been exhibited at the Allentown Art Museum, The State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg and The Reading Public Museum and DeSales University. Loretta Tryon’s work has been featured on the title page of “500 Silver Jewelry Designs” and published in “21st Century Jewelry” and “1000 Beads” by Sterling Publishing. Most recently, my jewelry was on exhibit in Milan, Italy and published in “Artistar Jewels 2016″.”
