PARKING

Free parking for Museum visitors is available in the lot next to the Museum on Fifth and Linden Streets. On-street metered parking on Fifth Street and Linden Street is also available as well as several nearby parking decks.

Virtual Programing

We will continue to offer online activities and programing through #AAMatHome for the convenience and consideration of those who can’t make it in to the Museum, and for those who want to continue their engagement with art 24/7.

Safety Precautions


Wearing a mask in the Museum is encouraged. If you forget to bring a mask, complimentary face masks are available. If you have a fever, any COVID-19 symptom, or possible exposure, please plan your visit for a future date.

All public spaces of the Museum are thoroughly cleaned and maintained.

Hand sanitizer stations have been established throughout the Museum.

 

The cleanliness of our restrooms will be maintained continuously, and frequent hand washing is encouraged.

Visitor Policies

  • Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Food and drinks are to be enjoyed before entering the galleries.
  • Please conduct phone conversations outside of the galleries.

To ensure the safety and preservation of the art:

  • Please do not touch the art.
  • Please remain at least 2-feet away from the art.

To ensure a safe and comfortable experience for all, please note the following is not permitted on Museum property:

  • Smoking
  • Shoes with wheels
  • Skateboards
  • Scooters
  • Other personal recreational non-motorized and motorized vehicles

Baggage and Outerwear Storage

Large bags, backpacks, umbrellas, and similar items must be checked and stored in lockers next to the front desk. Larger outerwear must be stored in our coat closet.

Accessibility

Everyone is welcome at the Museum. We strive to offer features that are accessible to all audiences.

The main entrance of the Museum on Fifth Street is equipped with an entrance ramp and automatic doors.

Manual wheelchairs are available at the front desk at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis. To request assistance from the parking area to the entrance, please call the front desk at 610-432-4333 ext. 110.

Accessible restrooms are available on the first and second floors. Accessible baby-changing facilities are available in the restrooms.

Service animals for visitors with disabilities, strollers, and diaper bags are allowed in the Museum.

Photography

Personal Use/Visitor Filming and Photography Policy

  • Visitors may take personal photos in the permanent collection galleries without the use of flash, tripods, monopods, or selfie sticks.
  • Photography is sometimes restricted in special exhibitions or for specific works of art. Please look for signage in the galleries for guidance.
  • When taking photos, please be cautious around artwork and other visitors and be aware of your surroundings.
  • Please be mindful of preventing other visitors from viewing works on display.
  • Do not stand upon or lean against display platforms and cases.
  • Please comply with gallery attendants, docents, and staff guidelines to maintain a safe distance from works on display and other related instructions.
  • When sharing images on social media, please tag the Allentown Art Museum as @AtownArtMuseum
  • Your photographs of the Museum’s artwork, interior, or exterior may not be commercially published, sold, reproduced, transferred, or distributed.
  • Visitors who wish to have photos taken with a professional photographer must have prior approval in accordance with our Commercial Filming and Photography Policy and Agreement.
  • During your visit, you may be photographed or filmed by museum staff. We may use these images in signage, printed materials, and online for any purpose, commercial or otherwise.

Take Route 22 West to the Allentown exit for 7th Street South. In two miles, turn left on Turner Street. In two blocks, turn right on 5th Street. The Museum is 1.5 blocks on the left.

From Quakertown

Take Route 309 North. Bear right onto Route 145/South 4th Street. This street will change names several times eventually becoming American Parkway. Turn left on Linden Street and then left on 5th Street. The Museum is on the left.

From Reading and Kutztown

Take Route 222 North (becomes Hamilton Street in Allentown) to 4th Street. Turn left on 4th Street. In one block, turn left on to Linden Street. In one block, turn left on to 5th Street. The Museum is on the left.

From Philadelphia

Take I-476 North toward Plymouth Meeting. Then take exit toward Lehigh Valley. Keep right at fork for Route 22 East. Take Route 145 South/MacArthur Road (7th Street) exit. Turn right onto Route 145 South/MacArthur Road (7th Street). In two miles, turn left on to Turner Street. In two blocks, turn right on to 5th Street. The Museum is 1.5 blocks on the left.

From Scranton and Wilkes-Barre

Take I-81 South, then exit 175A to merge onto Route 315 South toward Pittston. Take I-81 North ramp and keep left at fork toward Route 476 South. Take exit 56 to merge onto Route 22 East. Take Route 145 South/MacArthur Road toward 7th Street exit. Turn right on to Route 145 South/MacArthur Road (7th Street). In two miles, turn left on to Turner Street. In two blocks, turn right on to 5th Street. The Museum is 1.5 blocks on the left.

From Harrisburg

Take I-78 East toward Allentown. Merge onto Route 22 East. Take Route 145 South/MacArthur Road (7th Street) exit. Turn right on to Route 145 South/MacArthur Road (7th Street). In two miles, turn left on to Turner Street. In two blocks, turn right on to 5th Street. The Museum is 1.5 blocks on the left.

From New York and New Jersey

Take I-78 West into PA to exit 60B. Merge onto PA Route 145 North/Route 309 North towards 4th Street. This street will change names several times eventually becoming American Parkway. Turn left on to Linden Street, then left on to 5th Street. The Museum is on the left.
